FAQ
Q: Why are the terms GTR and GTR II used?
A: Rather than using the term unofficial term Non V-Spec, I decided GTR would be more appropriate. GTR II signifies a series 2 GTR Non V-Spec. If any references are made to the entire run of R34 GTRs, they are always identified as R34 GTR.
Q: Why are some VIN numbers missing?
A: There are several reasons. Sometimes VIN numbers jump ahead in significant chunks, generally this indicates a change in series.
There are 5 distinct blocks of VIN numbers:
000051 - 000104 (Pre-production Series 1)
000201 - 007131 (Series 1 production)
010001 - 010010 (Pre-production Series 2)
010101 - 010107 (Pre-production Series 2 and/or possibly media testing vehicles - all 7 of these are Bayside Blue V-Spec II)
400001 - 404495 (Series 2 production)
In the pre-production range of Series 1, there are ~20 with no or little data. Most of these became race cars. These chassis were pulled from the line before the chassis was complete, each team had access to the Nissan production line and could select what stage they wanted the chassis at to begin the race car chassis preparation. Many of the chassis did not even reach the primer section which is done before painting. As such they were not documented like regular vehicles which is why the data is missing and very hard to come by.
Q: Why is there no information on Z-Tunes?
A: I'm unable to accurately identify these vehicles at this time. If I can find out more, I will add this information in.
Q: What about the 2x 2003 special order R34 GTRs mentioned on several websites?
A: They either don't exist, or they do not have a regular BNR34-###### VIN that can be discovered. In my opinion they don't exist.
Q: What about R32, R33 and R35 GTRs?
A: R32 and R33 coming in the future. R35.... that might not be possible.
Q: Do you own a R34 GTR?
A: Yes, I have previously owned the Bayside Blue GTR in the picture in the news section from 2012 - 2016. I currently own Pearl White M-Spec #147.
